Nikhil Pahwa

Nikhil Pahwa is an entrepreneur, investor, journalist and activist. He is the Founder and Editor of MediaNama, a publication covering technology and digital policy in India.

Nikhil is a TED Fellow and an Asia21 Fellow. India Today named him one of its "Indians of Tomorrow". He has been profiled by Forbes, Wired and GQ.

He gave a TED Talk in 2016 and conducted two TED Discovery sessions on "How to build a movement" at the TED Summit in 2019. Nikhil led the SaveTheInternet.in campaign for Net Neutrality in 2015 and co-founded the Internet Freedom Foundation.

Writing and journalism

Nikhil has written more than 5,800 articles for MediaNama. He writes TechNik, a column for The Economic Times, and publishes his AI writing at Reasoned. His work and full publication record can also be found on Muck Rack.

Regulatory engagement

Nikhil has deposed before India's Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology on Net Neutrality, social media regulation and paid news. He has participated in technology policy and telecom consultations with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Department of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Commerce and TRAI.

He was an independent member of the Delhi Government's committee for rolling out Wi-Fi in Delhi and an expert witness before its Committee on Peace and Harmony.

Nikhil has spoken at Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Columbia University, IIT Kanpur, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, RightsCon, the World Economic Forum, MozFest, TED and other institutions and conferences.
